My Background…
I am experienced in working with women and young people (18+) dealing with
racial trauma, racial identity, imposter syndrome, anxiety, stress, sexual
violence, role/life transitions and parenting challenges. I have worked in both
community and mental health services where I provided therapy, parent and
life coaching. I have worked with people from different racial, ethnic and
cultural backgrounds including ages.
I have also been volunteering for the past few years as a Crisis Line
Counsellor and as the Board Chair for the Toronto Rape Crisis
Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape in Toronto.
Counselling and Therapy Kinds of Services:
- Racial Trauma
- Racial Identity
- Imposter Syndrome
- Role/Life Transitions
- Parenting Challenges
- Stress Management
- Anxiety
- Sexual Violence
- Life Coaching
- Mindfulness Therapy
My Approach….
My approach is guided by an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Racist, Anti-Black Racism
and an Intersectional Feminist Approach that sees personal experiences as
linked to social systems (such as racism, patriarchy and sexism). I combine
many short- and long-term methodologies, like the Kniffley Racial Trauma
Therapy Model, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and
Trauma Counselling.
I will combine my clinical skills with empathy, care and integrity – and a dash
of humour when appropriate- to support you as you seek to gain more clarity
in your life. You and I will be a good fit if you are motivated, self-reflective and
ready to make a change in your life.
My speciality….
I like to help Black and racialized women and young people (18+) overcome racial
trauma. Racial Trauma affects you in every facet of your life.
Through our work together, I will support you in:
I have been told by others…
That I truly know how to ask gentle, compassionate and curious questions that leads to
meaningful change in their lives. I have also been told that I help instill hope in people’s
lives and support them in recognizing their internal strengths and incredible assets that
they have and can use at any given time to make significant positive changes in their
lives.
I believe that life is a journey and I feel honoured to go through this part of your life
journey with you. In therapy, I create a non-judgemental and equitable space where I
will guide you through difficult emotions, encourage and challenge you take the next
steps towards healing and growth. I will work with you to identify your strengths, and
build personal understanding and the skills required to move forward in your life. I will
also work with you to build your resilience, set realistic goals and challenge any
unhelpful thinking patterns that prevents you from succeeding in your life.
My goal for you…
I want to see you succeed in life and live life to the fullest extent and on your own terms!
I hope that in collaboration with you, I can support you in recognizing the incredible
strengths and abilities that you have to create positive and long-lasting changes in your
life.
I believe that I can help you to make this change; so that, you too, can live life fully and
on your own terms.
