Gillian Frise Therapy
Psychotherapist, M.Ed. RP, Individual | Couples | Child and Family | Teens

I have worked as a psychotherapist and parent consultant for over 15 years. My practice focuses but is not limited to issues relating to parenting, trauma, grief, separation/divorce, anxiety, addictions, depression, anger, relationships, couples and family. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and empowering to help clients move towards continued growth, compassion, and self-awareness.
My therapeutic approach integrates different modalities such as narrative therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Gordon Neufeld Institute approach, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, sensorimotor and art therapy.
I have a masters in counselling psychology from University of Toronto, OISE, and an undergraduate degree from McGill University. I received my Parent Coach certificate from Parent Education Network. I am registered with the new College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am also a general member of OACCPP.
I have worked as a counsellor and group facilitator in health clinics and organizations with families, couples and individuals. My experience also covers working in the wilderness with trauma survivors and youth, in prisons and addiction centres and in group work using expressive art and body movement techniques.
Along with my private practice, I work in a clinic and train graduate students in psychotherapy and consult on de-escalation strategies, trauma work and child development. I give lectures and run groups on parenting and mental health at schools, agencies, day cares and organizations. I also run therapeutic art and play-based groups for children, pre-teen and teens.
