Carolyn Gibson Smith, BSc, MSW, RSW
Child and Youth, CBT, Death and Dying, Mindfulness, Psychotherapy and Stress Management.
Supporting individuals and families through times of great change.
Carolyn brings a combination of professional experience and insight to help you navigate life’s challenges. In addition to a BSc in psychology, a masters-level social work degree helps her work in a way that respects all your history and connections and how you would prefer to be in the world. That, coupled with ongoing certifications in individual, child and family therapy gives her a great set of tools that help her to help you.
She will work with you to establish your goals for both generally and for each session. Expect thoughtful questions, Aha! moments, serious moments, and laughter too. Whether you are looking for quick tools to help shift your mood, longer-term support for a major life transition, or puzzling through challenges with grief, family, relationships or work, Carolyn is pleased to be a part of your story.
In addition to her work with individuals, children and families, Carolyn provides specialized support for people facing life-limiting illness: those at the end of life, the bereaved, and their families. In all her work, she values people as individuals: their stories, loves, values and wisdom.
Carolyn uses a variety of styles of therapy in accordance with your needs. Some of her favourites include ACT, CBT, Narrative Therapy and Emotion Focussed Family Therapy. She is always person-centred and works from an anti-oppressive, culturally humble and trauma-informed perspective.
Each session is 50 minutes in length. Check here for the latest rates and payment options. As a social worker, your sessions with Carolyn may be covered by private insurance.
