Dr. Sheri Turrell is a registered clinical psychologist who is licensed to work with children, adolescents, and adults.
Following a ten year career as a Registered Nurse, working primarily with adolescents and adults with psychiatric illnesses, I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from OISE/University of Toronto in 2004. My clinical experience includes training at the Toronto District School Board, The Hospital for Sick Children, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Out Patient Clinic at North York General Hospital, and the Eating Disorders Program at North York General Hospital. I am currently employed full time at Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga, and see patients in my private practice on Saturdays.
In private practice, I conduct thorough diagnostic (social-emotional) assessments to assess for psychiatric disorders and inform treatment. I am educated and trained in a variety of proven therapeutic modalities, including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Mindfulness Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. As a well rounded clinician, I am able to tailor therapy to the individual needs of my patients.
One of the strongest predictors of treatment success is a good interpersonal relationship with the therapist. As such, you are welcome to call me for a free consultation and ask any questions you may have with respect to my training and experience.
Dr. Turrell has provided supervision for psychology interns as well as candidates for registration for the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
