Ayurveda Shirohara

“Healthy Body Healthy Mind,  Healthy Habits Healthy Life”

SHIRODHARA: This is the most traditional Ayurvedic healing method. Shiro means "head", dhara means “continuous dripping of oil like a thread". It is known to relax and revitalize the mind taking one to a deep and peaceful meditative state. The continuous stream of warm oil on the fore head is followed by a gentle head and shoulder massage. The stream of oil is particularly focused on the space between the eye brows. This space is called third eye and is regarded as the focal point of human consciousness. Shirodhara is also activates natural healing mechanisms to release stress from the nervous system. This improves mental clarity, relieves headaches, migraines, insomnia, facial paralysis, hypertension etc.

SHIROVASTI: Shirovasti applies on the head through the use of a specialized leather container and filled with warm oil, this form of shirovasti particular healing in sinus, migraine, loss of memory, disorientation, headache etc.

SHIRO-ABHYANGA: Head massage (shiro-abhyanga) that stimulates the scalp and infuses warm conditioning oils into the hair. It improves the circulation, memory, clarity of mind, improves eye sight and concentration.

TAKRADHARA: It is a process in which medicated butter milk is poured in continuous stream on the forehead, particularly the space between eye brows (same as shirodhara). This process is highly beneficial in preventing premature grey hair, fatigue, headache, lack of vitality and certain types of skin diseases.

 ABHYANGA: Ayurvedic whole body massage or abhyangam is traditionally performed with herbal oils. It stimulates circulation of blood and lymph. It relieves fatigue, provides stamina, pleasure and ensures perfect sleep, enhances the complexion and luster of skin, promotes longevity and nourishes whole body.

KATIVASTI: Kativasti is a healing procedure in lumbar sacral region of the back. It involves  the pouring of warm oils is enclosed into an  area of lower back, created with a reservoir of dough. It may improve back problems, muscle spasms and generally strengthen that area.

UROVASTI: Urovasti is a healing procedure in the chest and heart region. It involves the pouring warm oils in an enclosed chest area. It reduces pain in the sternum and strengthens the heart.
